Thirteen Reasons Spring is in the Air

Another Thursday has come by and I’ve survived almost one week of spring break with the kids. You can see what I’m talking about in the post below and while you’re at it, check out the interviews with Caridad Pineiro and Vivi Anna if you haven’t already.

So, Spring is on the way. The weather is close to 20C (almost 70F for you non-metric folks ;-) ) and I went outside today without–gasp!–a jacket. The signs have been piling up for a while now but in case you have any doubts, here are my thirteen reasons why Spring is in the air!

1… The closer to Spring the more dh sneezes. He has the regularity of a five am freight train
2… The sakura have started blooming. See the picture? It’s picnic time!
3… I am now down to three layers of clothing instead of five
4… I feel the itch to wear even brighter colors
5… When I tell the kids to go outside for an hour and play, expect them back two hours later
6… The amount of sand and mud tracked into the house rises in direct proportion to the temperature
7… It’s time to remember where the Easter bunny put those Easter baskets last year
8… The school year ends and another begins (see post below)
9… It’s bug hunting season–ick!
10… Do I smell barbecue?
11… That dreaded in between time is approaching when it’s neither warm enough to put away your winter clothes nor hot enough to pull out all those summer ones.
12… The thought of Spring Cleaning puts a smile on my face–NOT!
13…The panic of fitting into a summer swimsuit has officially begun. Exercise can no longer be put off until tomorrow or the day after or the day after that.

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

I still remember most of the words to Sakura from elementary school! They certainly have beautiful blossoms.

    Happy TT, and happy spring.

Ew! Spring cleaning! Bathing suits and fitting rooms! Ick! Your list makes spring sound scary! (Or perhaps it’s my guilty conscience — I missed my workout today.) My TV-themed TT is up.

I live in Southern California, so the coming of spring isn’t that much of a relief after winter. I can smell Tax Day coming, though, and that is a nasty smell. LOL

    Happy TT!

Mmm. Barbecue. We’re grilling fish for dinner tonight (assuming the store has any).

And yeah to the bathing suit thing — I’ve been griping for a few weeks now ’cause I’ve put on fat and pounds since January — this new workout just didn’t cut it for me. Believe me, I’ve been heavy on the cardio for the past three weeks! Out, damned fat!

    Happy TT!!

Thanks for stopping by, read your post below and yes it would be hard to entertain kids living in an apartment. Do they get another break in the summer? That is a different schedule for sure.

We still have snow in our yard, but it is melting! No bugs here, yet.

The–Spring Cleaning and the prospect of some serious dieting are scary.

Jen–there’s a forty day break in summer from the third week of July to the end of August. I try to use that time to get back to the US. I grew up in the country. My kids are living a completely different childhood from my own.

Susan–I’m at the too scared to step on the scale to see how much I have to lose. Yup. I’m a coward.

Spring hasn’t hit here yet. I really want it to. It’s still cold!

It also means I need to start exercising soon so I don’t look gross come summer.

Ah, spring. You’d never think it if you were in eastern Canada today — some places had as much as a foot of snow. Ugh.

    Have a happy Easter!
