How do you like your eggs?

Today is Easter and like most plans or life with kids it didn’t go as expected. Ds#1 woke up with a fever. So though the Easter bunny brought chocolate, the egg dyeing has been postponed. Not sure that’s such a bad thing. Then again they’ve got some cool kits nowadays. I picked one up that lets the boys paint, color or use stickers to decorate their eggs. When I was growing up it was vinegar, food dye and fingers that turned purple! Remember that?

I also say a kit that lets you suck out the insides with a straw (or something) and then decorate the remaining shell. I’m sure it’s supposed to be stupid proof. I usually fail those. Not to mention three little boys who range from ds#1: I can do it. I know how (I know everything); to ds#2, who is only an inch shorter than his two year older big brother and is going to pass me in foot size before he’s in fourth grade: I can do it. I won’t break it (yeah right); to ds#3, the baby with the big attitude: I’m going first. I can do it too (even if I have to climb over you two to do it). Oh yeah. Images of raw egg blowing up all over the dining room table and on the carpet nixed this nifty kit real quick.

Growing up though, Easter was always cool. We went to a huge buffet at a very nice restuarant after church. In the afternoon dad would hide the eggs outside and we’d spend a chunk of time racing all over trying to find our eggs. I even remember years where there was a prize egg worth a dollar. We won’t go into how many years ago that was, but out of curiosity, how much is an Easter egg going for these days?

Happy hunting to you all. Happy Easter. Happy Passover. Enjoy your time with family and friends. And I hope you make memories to carry away with you.

That’s funny you live on another continent, but easter traditions are the same ! I remember painting eggs together with my grandma and grandpa hid them so well that sometimes we found some from the year before !

I hope you had a great Easter. Christmas is usually when someone in my family gets sick and our plans get thrown off. Easter is more relaxed and we have a lot of fun. This year the kids got to make a snowman thanks to a fun storm.

    We just go with it!

Gattina–I’m not sure I want to know what an egg that sat for a year hidden looks like…or smells like. LOL!

Christine–I don’t think I ever built snowmans for Easter. That is quite a memorable event. Would make for an interesting Easter egg hunt.
