What kind of English Do You Speak?

This is fun. I got this from Candy Minx who got this from Wylie. You can see my results below. I speak General American English with a slant towards Yankee. Wonder which answers gave that away. The ten percent Dixie throws me. I grew up in New York state, went to college in Iowa and then moved to California. Not a drop of the South to be found. A few answers stumped me because I found myself thinking I use both only you had to choose one. In other cases, the answer was very clear. It had to be this.

Anyway, take the test and find out what kind of English you speak!

Your Linguistic Profile:

45% General American English

30% Yankee

10% Dixie

10% Upper Midwestern

0% Midwestern

Mine was quite accurate. I’m an upper midwesterner, all my life. I say “grocery cart” and “ant” for “aunt” (with a long, nasal “a” to boot!).
