I’ve Blog Swapped with Gabriella today. Recently, a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cervical cancer. The doctors have told her to make the most of the time she has left (yeah, it’s really that bad). That got me thinking about all the things I want to do in my life, so My Thursday Thirteen is … |
1. I want to go to Ireland. — Why Ireland? Because it’s a beautiful country with a rich history and a certain amount of magic still surrounding it and I want to experience that. 2. Learn how to speak Gaelic — Yeah, I know…some of you are knitting your brows going ‘huh? Why Gaelic?’ It goes back to #1 and the whole Ireland thing. 3. I want to get a tattoo — Now I’m not stupid enough to just run out willy nilly and let any ole person tattoo me. No, when I get ready to do it, it will be researched thoroughly and I will design my own. I want to have my children’s initials as part of the tattoo. 4. I want to get a book published — Wait…I’ve already done that, so there’s one thing off my list. *g* (magic fairies insert Michelle’s book) 5. I’d like to get my ears pierced again. — I had a second piercing done, years and years ago, but just a week after, I had to remove the earrings because of infection. After that, I said I’d never do it again. Well…never is a long time and I think I’ve changed my mind. 6. Learn how to play the piano. — You would think that this wouldn’t be that hard considering I played clarinet all through school, so I already know how to read music. But getting my hands to work together on a keyboard is about as likely as another ‘Bush’ getting into office. 7. Lose some weight — Yeah, folks this is a biggie. I’m a good 60 pounds over my ideal weight. There’s diabetes in my family, so every day the pounds stay on is another day at risk. Plus, there’s a whole ‘quality of life issue’ going on here. I know I’d ‘feel better’ if I weighed less and in return I’d be a happier person. 8. Spend more ‘quality time’ with my husband — ’nuff said. 9. Make sure my children grow up to be good people. — I not only want to be here to see it happen, but I want to know that I’m giving them the right tools necessary for them to be good, contributing people when they become adults. 10. Finish scrapbooking all my children’s photos before I die. — This one alone could keep me living forever. I’m an avid scrapbooker, who put down her die cuts and galaxy markers to start writing and hasn’t created a page in over six months. I have all these photos just staring at me, waiting for their turn in a layout and I’ve yet to make the time. *sigh* Sometimes, I think I need a clone. 11. Take my husband to Australia — I want to go to Ireland, he wants to go to Australia. Both will be hard to accomplish, since I’m afraid of airplanes. And my fear goes back long before 9/11. 12. Get back in touch with God — So this one may be controversial for some of you and that’s okay. I respect the fact that not everyone will have the same religious views I do. Personally, I need this as my faith has been severely challenged recently. 13. Make my friend better — Okay, I’m willing to admit that this one probably isn’t going to happen, but, well…one can dream, right? So there’s my list and a little peek into what goes on inside my brain. How about you guys? What would be some of the things on your life’s to do list? |

Yep, I hear you on the scrapbooking thing.
As for losing weight… take it one thing at a time. More steps each day. Eat three bites less at meals. (the best advice I’ve ever heard, right there. Three bites less.)
And things I want to accomplish? Buying ranch land adjacent to Yellowstone so the bison can roam free and the wolves do their thing. Publishing Trevor’s Song.
And various and sundry other adventures. You know: riding my bike 100 miles around Lake Tahoe. That sort of easy stuff.
Hope you had fun guest blogging!

Ireland was a dream come true for me (I went last year). I’d love to go to Australia, but New Zealand is higher on the list (and has been for a long time before Lord of the Rings. Did you enjoy blog-swapping?

Welcome to Gabriella’s neighborhood! Definitely, like you, I want to lose weight. And while I don’t want a tattoo, I’ve been toying with getting a diamond stud in my ear.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Main thing for me would be to stop being afraid of rejection or looking foolish and just tell people how I feel about about them.. and eat icecream every day

I keep a running list of things I want to do before I die. Going to Scotland is near the top on mine. Ireland is there too.

Those are all good goals! Hope you get to visit Ireland and Australia!

Excellent list of goals!
I’ve been tattooed & gone to Ireland – you will not regret either one!
Australia is on my giant “to do” list, too.
Cheers to you for having a book published!

. Lose some weight –
This is one for me. My will power sucks, but I’ve done a little better this week. Fingers crossed and prayers said my will power holds out.

BTW,
on #12… it shouldn’t be controversial at all. People should be entitled to their faiths without feeling like it’s going to cause issues for others.
And best of luck~I went through a bad time a few years ago and if it wasn’t for my husband, my kids and my faith, i don’t know how I would have pulled thru.

Thanks for all the good wishes everybody. Blog swapping with Gabriella has been fun and I hope she’ll let me come back again sometime. I’ve been in search of a good Irish Gaelic website, but haven’t found one yet. The ear piercing thing, I’ll probably do this weekend and the tatoo, hopefully will soon follow. I’d like to lose some weight before I get tatooed, so maybe by christmas. I hope!

Hello – good to bump into here! I’m planning to walk down the red carpet at the Oscars because my film is up for one of those heavy statuettes. Far away at the moment but still doable.

I’m so sorry for what your friend is going through. Its definitely a good time to start doing the things you want!

Great list.
Mine would include getting married and having babies at the top of the list. But who knows if that’ll ever happen.. I’m incredibly picky and even higher standards.

Excellent list of things to do, and I’m so sorry to hear about your friend.
I would like a tattoo, too, but I can’t quite figure out where and what yet.
Happy TT, and thanks for visiting mine!

Great idea for a list! I too am sorry to hear about your friend, but please tell her not to give up hope! My grandmother was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and told it was inoperable. She moved in with our family to live out her last months as per the advice of her physicians at the time, and for my mother to care for her. That was in the late 1960′s … my grandmother passed on two years ago almost 40 years after she was given the worst news of her life. She went into remission without benefit of surgery nor treatment options available today. She was 92 when she passed. (((hugs)))

I understand the need to accomplish things before you die.
I’m three years out from breast cancer and a double mastectomy and they know they didn’t get it all becuase it was in my lympth nodes. I’m fine now. But we have now idea when and where it’s going to raise its ugly head. If it does. I could live to be a hundred…oh, that’s too long…So…
I want to accomplish a lot of things; my personal history for my children, publishing my books, mostly for their sake and a lot other things. I’ve taken flying anywhere off my list for now. I’m just not ready for the whole airport thing. I like the ground too much.
