On Friday, I leave for my trip home to the US. Do I have my suitcase packed? No way. Right now, I’ve got a novella to slip in under the Wednesday deadline (synopsis and query still left to write). I have an article on Okinawa happenings in Tokyo that is due this week and have at least one more interview for that. Oh, and in one of my manic moments I agreed to translate from Japanese to English a book on designing and making ball joint dolls. Only sixty-some-odd pages to go.
So, yes, I have lots of balls in the air and am frantically trying to keep them up there. In the meantime, the packing waits. I’ll probably be doing it Thursday night. I’m at the point that if I forget it, I can buy it. The boys and I will only be there for three weeks. We don’t need that much stuff.
I’d like to say that for these three weeks I’ll be completely worry free, but with the book coming out in September, I’ll be spending my time in the US blogging and chatting and working on the book trailer. And once I’m back in Japan, it’s more juggling like usual.
So how much juggling do you do and what’s your secret for not dropping balls?

I used tojuggle alot, then I got sick of it. And now I’m jumping back into the juggling because not juggling things has become a bit boring.
Sounds funny..but well…it’s true.

I mostly do all my juggling at work. I never seem to have jobs where I’m not the unicyclist juggling flaming batons. So I tend to keep my home life as juggle-free a zone as I can.
Perfect way to look at your packing. I’d say that’s brilliant time management.

The only juggling I do is at work. Sometimes I’m dealing with 5 or 6 cases at the same time, and managing to keep my sanity in the process. *LOL* But when it comes to my personal life, I’m a one-ball person. Juggling too many balls, and they fall down.

I don’t know how I do it to be honest. I have so much going on with my kids, work and writing, I sometimes just close my eyes and hope it all stays up there.

I’m something of a juggling savant. Like Tempest Knight above, when I’m at the office, I can keep a lot of balls in the air and seldom bobble a single one. My personal life is something else again. Especially when it comes to travel. I compensate by overpacking (think Geena Davis in Thelma and Louise).

So close and yet so far… sigh! It’s neat though to think of you being over here.
If you get a wild hair and want to hit Georgia while you’re soooooo close – holler and i’ll show you the sights, paint the town red, try not to get arrested – all the good stuff!
Juggling – it seems to come easier when you don’t over think it.

I can totally relate to Chistine because that’s how I feel.
Rhian, I really wish I could grow a wild hair and just head on over. I think meeting you would be something special.
I have to say I’m impressed by you ladies who keep the balls going at work and then keep them out of the home. Wish I knew how to do that.

I’m constantly juggling between ‘real work’, writing, family and cleaning. Thankfully, ‘real work’ only lasts until November, then I’m on seasonal layoff until April. Boy to I plan to do some writing then.,
Hope you have a good vacation. Have a safe trip here and back.
