Top Thirteen Horror Flicks When it comes to horror movies and horror stories, I’m a wimp. My eyes squeeze tight and I bury my head at the first sign of approaching blood, guts and gore. I’ve seen a few movies on this list. (I think someone dragged me to them. LOL.) The only exception is Alien. That was a series that I actually went back to see the sequels. Maybe because it had that touch of sci fi to it. There is a list of the top 50 scariest horror films at Boston.com. The Ring was great, so was The Shining. The 1978 Bodysnatchers was nowhere as good as the 1950s original, though.

I have a completely other reaction. I block out the reality and only see the exaggerated things and that makes me laugh ! I would run away if I saw it in real life but not on a screen, it’s too ridiculous !

The Shining was interesting but as a fan of the book I preferred the mini-series.
I’m not a big horror movie fan, it’s something I grew out of when slasher films became the norm. But prior to that I remember things like the Exorcist and even the first Nightmare on Elm Street ( a series that’s good if you watch only the odd numbered ones).
Alien and the sequels were among some of my favorite scary movies as well. There was something appealing in the sheer terror of the unknown for those movies.

I wouldn’t have guessed Jacob’s Ladder to be on there. It’s really psychological. Scary parts, but not the ordinary fare. Makes me think the list has some cred as being more thinking horror. Nice.

I’m not much of a horror movie fan, unless you count the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I went to the original Halloween 3 times, but saw about a total of 90 minutes–the rest of the time I had my eyes closed.
Watching The Thing, on the other hand, convinced my husband he didn’t want to watch horror movies with me–I laughed at the monster.

‘Body Snatchers’ freaked me out as a kid. ‘Alien’, ‘The Shining’, The Exorcist’ and ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ are all great. I posted a list of scary films I love if you want to take a look: Boo!

I’m not a big fan of horror, but I have seen 5, 8, 11, and 12. And I’ve seen the Japanese version of the Ring (more suspence than horror- I would say). Happy TT.

Horror can be split into two distinct categories: monsters and slashers.
I don’t mind monster pics.
This is good, as appreciating John Carpenter’s The Thing was a prerequisite to my marriage LOL. Has anyone watched the made-for-TV miniseries of “The Shining” starring Steven Webber? I liked that far more than the Jack Nicholson version.

I love horror but rarely get to see it any longer (That Man’s not a fan, and the kids are too little). The RIng was excellent.
