I have to admit, I am very excited about the release of Dark Waters. But not so excited about promoting myself.
Weird, huh? Well, it isn’t rocket science but for some reason I am baffled by the process. It should be easy and I am sure I am making it more complicated than it has to be. Honestly, how hard is it to just go up to people and say, “Hey, buy my book!”?
Totally horrendous at this I am.
I’m calling all the local newspapers and they are such pros. They say mail them a copy of the book. Great! Except I don’t have any.
I go to the local bookstore and they want to know if I want a book signing. I’m like, “no thanks.” I’m afraid no one will show up.
I give out flyers but they are in black and white because color copies are a $1 a piece (both sides color). Although, I know the color looks so much better.
I’m beginning to wonder if I have what it takes to be a successful author. Then I think I took forever to write it and forever to pitch it and forever to sell it. I might as well as go the extra mile and promote it forever!
So off I go back on my soapbox with my bullhorn screaming to everyone that I have a book coming out!!!
