It’s been a pretty stressful month and a half. Everyone around me talks about “Before The Earthquake” and “After The Earthquake,” as if everything in our lives is now defined by that moment. I’ve been fascinated with science fiction since I was a little kid. It wasn’t so much about the aliens and adventures (though that played a big part in it), but the characters themselves. I’ve got at least two steampunk ideas floating around. One is generally plotted out and the other is still taking shape in my head. This is a new genre for me and I’m learning more and more about it all the time. Visually, I think steampunk is hot. I love the costumes and the cool gadgetry. It’s the type of genre that allows a writer to stretch the imagination, touching on history, science, social norms and even the paranormal. Steampunk has it all.
