What Olympic Sport Do You Want to See?

The Olympics will be starting soon and I am getting excited. The men and women at the games have worked so hard to get to this top sporting event. It’s sports at the absolute best and I love it.

The talent, the muscles, the perseverance are something to watch. Let’s face it, even with thousands of miles and a TV screen between us, we feel the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It’s why we tune in.

I’ve spotlighted the Men’s Swimming team and the Men’s Boxing team in my Man Candy Monday. If you haven’t checked out … Read More »

Rolling Stone Magazine: Readers’ Top Ten Opening Acts

Rolling Stone Magazine has a feature on the Top Ten Opening Acts as polled by readers. Now I don’t pay attention to a lot of what happens on the music scene, but yeah, me! I knew everybody on the list. How could you not with names like Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Prince, and Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Opening acts are those guys that get on stage before the main liner. You know, the ones you might listen to or turn to your friends and ask “Who are these guys?”, while you count down the minutes until the main act. Go … Read More »

Get in Shape this Summer with BODYROCK.tv! #Free #Exercise

I’ve got to say I’ve probably tried just about every exercise program out there. Jane Fonda aerobics? You betcha. I’ve got a dusty video around somewhere still. Richard Simmons? Oh yeah. Shake it, ladies. Pilates, anyone? Yup, tried that, too, and have the stretch band or whatever it’s called to prove it. And everyone’s favorite, Billy’s Bootcamp! I think every housewife in the neighborhood had that one because all the kids at the elementary school knew the moves. Pretty hilarious I have to say. Then there’s Zumba. No DVD, but I did attend a class…once. Lots of fun and proved … Read More »

Fancy Friday – New Orleans

Recently took a trip to New Orleans, Louisina. Such a romantic city with so much to do. I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the architecture. Sightseeing is fantastic and since the French Quarter is a walking city, there are several cativities to do and much to see. I went on the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself, so much to do and so little time

Bohemian Rhapsody on the Way to School. C’mon, you know you want to join in

The first group I ever saw in concert was Queen. I was a young teen, my best friend was dating an “older” guy and she invited me to tag along with them. We sat way up in the stratosphere, but who cared? I was at my first-ever concert and I was watching Queen. Of course I probably knew all of two songs at that time. So what? Those songs still rock.

We are the Champions is probably the most famous. I hear it quite a lot here in Japan on TV commercials and other stuff. I know it’s a favorite … Read More »

A Little Smooth Criminal to Get Your Weekend Going

My student showed me a video of these guys playing on YouTube and I was blown away. Who knew classical cellists could be so sexy? The Croatian pair behind 2Cellos put a video up of themselves playing and became an overnight sensation. The next thing they knew Elton John was on the phone asking them to open at his concerts. How cool is that? If you’re wondering what they hype could possibly be about, check them out on the Ellen Show playing Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal.

What I love about this story is that these two guys weren’t afraid to … Read More »

Comfy Summer Sandals Made in the USA –via The Vintage Traveler

I’ve mentioned The Vintage Traveler before. In case you don’t recall, I’ll say it again–I adore her blog posts. I don’t know how she does it coming up with a post almost daily, but she does. Her posts always touch on vintage clothing, vintage fashion and design as well as antiques.

I can’t sew worth anything. I admire people who can create cute dresses and outfits for their kids. But admiration doesn’t engender the slightest desire to do it myself. I’ll leave clothes designing to the experts and hit the nearest department store rack.

So why is it I’ve subscribed … Read More »

Fancy Friday – Shiny New Shoes

ON THE BLOG

Yeah! A new month and a new look for me!

I decided to do a bit of Spring cleaning and freshen things up a round here. Recently, I had the fabulous Croco go and do a few tweaks to the website to give it that extra pizzazz. I am almost finished with my latest novel, Mountain Shadows (working title) and I decided to add a bit more flavor to the bolg.

What can you expect?

A Tribute and Being Part of History

It’s Fancy Friday, which means I get to post on whatever catches my fancy. This week there were three events I wanted to touch on. One a bit of living history. Two others, the passing of living legends.

On May 17th, Donna Summer passed away from cancer. I remember her as being pretty big in the ’70s and then in the ’80s she came out with her own album. Yup, I got it. And I recall playing it on the stereo. We’re talking vinyl record here, so yes, I’m dating myself. But, boy, did she have a powerful voice. She … Read More »

Pushing Yourself to the Max

I ran across this video, which is a compilation of clips of people doing some amazing, death-defying stunts or simply demonstrating phenomenal althletic abilities. I am completely awe struck by what some people are willing to do for the ultimate risk. At least I assume in some cases it’s about pushing themeselves to the limit, to taking the maximum risk, to getting that one-of-a-kind high.

I’m a total arm chair jock. The closest I’m going to get to rock climbing, extreme skiing or human flying is on my Wii machine. Video simulation is the most stimulation my heart can take. … Read More »
