In Search of the Perfect Mojito

It’s Memorial Day Weekend. Time to break out that barbeque, kick back and get yourself the perfect drink.

A few weeks ago I hit the local hotel lounge with a girlfriend and was totally excited to see mojitos offered as the current seasonal special. They had mango and two other fruit flavors. I can’t recall what because I wanted the mango one baaaad. It was delicious. A combination of sweet and slightly tart with slices of chilled mango to top it off. It’s to die for.

I was curious about how to make a good mojito, so I headed over … Read More »

Wicked Wednesday – Dwayne Johnson

THE ROCK! Totally ripped and delicious. He is one of my favorite Asian fusion dishes.

There is something about him and his witty talk and brillant smile with that cute dimple.

Rocking tattoo and bulging biceps are a nice touch, too.

Not only can the man pull off a pair of tight speedos complemented with a big gold belt

but he also looks fabulous in a tutu;)

There is no doubt he will be absoloutely adorable and gorgeous in his latest venture, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. … Read More »

Wicked Wednesday – Supernatural Hunks

I am focusing on Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, the super hot brothers of Supernatural, Sam and Dean Winchester!!!!

Now we could talk about their acting skills and the great scripting for one of the coolest shows on CW but I would rather focus on their dimples and abs…

March Madness – Christine D’Abo

I want to thank Gabriella for having me on the blog today.

There are so many cool things about being a writer. Story telling is exciting! I love exploring the lives of characters, seeing what makes them tick and watching how they grow. But today I want to talk about the world in which these characters live.

There is nothing better than reading a book that is world rich. And I’m not just talking about historical or science fiction settings either. It doesn’t matter if it’s set it downtown Toronto, or on Mars, a well thought out and described environment … Read More »

Why I Love Books

I love to read. I’ve been a voracious reader since I was a kid. I’d walk into the public library and walk out with 14 books that I’d read in a week. Then I’d be bugging my mom to take me back so I could get the next batch. I remember staying up all night to read Herman Wouk’s Winds of War and then telling my mom that I’d had insomina and couldn’t sleep all night, so could I please stay home. Gotta love that woman. She bought it. ( : I get car sick, but I recall finishing off … Read More »

Wicked Wednesday – Cristinao Ronaldo

All I have to say, Cristiano Ronaldo is one hot footballer or as we say in America, Sexy soccer dude.

I could careless what team he plays for. So long as long as he keeps going shirtless.

Here is my foray into being a rabid soccer fan.

Brilliant Writing via Mitchell & Webb

I’m in the middle of edits for SHADOW VISIONS, scheduled for release on March 20th! Yikes, that’s close. As a writer you sweat over each word, agonizing over whether another one will do, until the time you can’t stand looking at the manuscript anymore and send it in. Once it leaves your hands and lands on an editor’s desk, well, things can change. Editors will point out repetitive language, plot holes (which hopefully don’t exist), and areas that need strengthening. An editor usually has your success in mind. If you’re smart, you listen.

That said, I am so glad I … Read More »

Happy Australia Day!

Okay, so it’s one day late. Technically, yesterday was Australia’s Day to celebrate. But, I say it’s never too late to join the party.

My great-grandmother was born to a French woman and an unknown father in New York City (at least that’s what Nana always told me). My French great-great-grandmother married an Australian widower with children when my great-grandmother was still an infant. He took them back to Australia. This was turn of the 20th century. Can you imagine what Australia must have been like at that time? Nana studied ballet and singing in Sydney and when she was … Read More »

World Bodypainting Festival

Did you know there’s a World Bodypainting Festival? Me? Didn’t have a clue. Not until I stumbled across photos on Flipboard on my iPhone. (Talk about an awesome app.) Anyway, being the curious person that I am, I did a little research and came away amazed.

The festival hasn’t been around that long, having gotten its start in 1998. Alex Barendregt was working for a local travel agency in Austria when he was put in charge of organizing a festival for the town of Seeboden. He had read something about bodypainting and thought it might be just the thing. It … Read More »

Let Your Imagination Soar

When I first saw this picture I envisioned something along the lines of a cyberpunk setting. Somewhere in the future. An alternative universe, perhaps. My imagination took flight. I can just as easily see a colony of people living and working inside those bubbles, able to ride inside and out.

This amazing concept and design came from New York-based, Portuguese architect Tiago Barros. . He submitted this design, titled Passing Cloud, to a competition sponsored by the Van Alen Institute and the Department of Cultural Affairs of New York for their “Life at the Speed of Rail” competition. He didn’t Read More »
